Why We’re Building Radgarden
Our Mission
To connect the people growing food to the people around them, so communities can feed themselves.
Here's what we're working toward:
Fresh food, closer to home. The food is already growing in our neighbourhoods. We make it easy to reach.
Nothing good going to waste. Surplus produce, idle tools, untaught skills — we’re here to get them to the people who need them.
Less dependence on systems that extract. Every seed saved and tool borrowed is one less thing bought from someone who profits from us not knowing how.
Community resilience. A garden is cheaper to start and easier to keep going when you're not doing it alone. And in a divisive world, the people on your street becoming people you actually know is not a small thing.
Knowledge that spreads. The skills that make people less dependent were never meant to be scarce. We teach them, free, to anyone who shows up.
The Story
Hey, I’m Hannah! My background is in ecology and renewable resources, and I now work in business systems design. I spent years studying how healthy systems work. I know how everything is connected, and how resilience comes from relationships.
Back in 2020, I saw the cracks: the disruptions to transportation, the effects of isolation, the supply chains breaking down. Today, it’s even worse.
But I believe it’s fixable.
The abundance is already here — in backyards, in surplus harvests, in people who know how to grow things, and people who want to learn. What’s missing is the connection between them.
Resilience starts with a seed, a spare plot, and the person three streets over who's been growing garlic for twenty years and would love to show you how.
So we’re building it. From a kitchen table, between a garden that's slowly taking over the counter and a toddler who thinks dirt is a food group. No venture capital, no grand plan. Just a gap I kept tripping over until I decided to fill it.
My husband Colby writes the code. I grow the food and tell the story. We’re just two millennials with a very specific set of skills, and we intend to use them for good.

What we believe
Nothing between neighbours should have a price. Food shared over a fence is not a transaction.
We take nothing. No commission, no cut, no percentage. Membership funds the commons and the commons stays free.
Local is the whole point. We open an area when there are enough people in it to make it work — not before.
Privacy by design, not by promise. Your exact location is never public. We built it that way because "we promise not to misuse it" isn't good enough when the data is where your family lives. The platform and everything sensitive in it is built and hosted in Canada.
Abundance is the default. Scarcity in food is mostly manufactured, and we build like we know that.
Be the first to know when we launch in your area.
